We had so much fun with this lively bunch at a recent family portrait beach session! When they met us at the studio a few days later to go through the photos, we seriously felt like our friends had come to hang out. The icing on the cake was the email we received later that afternoon:

“Thanks again for everything! We had so much fun shooting with Ryan and again today going through all the photos with you guys. Didn’t think I would cry but that’s how you know they’re good pics, right?”

We totally agreed! As we got to know them a little better, we understood why everyone was all smiles the entire week. A really big, wonderful thing was about to happen.

Diane is no stranger to the beautiful Destin area. She’s been coming to the Emerald Coast with her parents since she was 15 years old. Her kids Quinn, Beau, and Will are now third generation seasonal visitors and wouldn’t have it any other way. Last year, she brought a couple of special someones, Chris and Alex, and folded them into this wonderful family tradition. And in just one month, all six will truly be a family in every sense of the word.

Diane and Chris were friends in college, and both married and went their separate ways. They ran into each other in Dallas a few years later, both single again after a few life curveballs. Their friendship picked up where it had left off, making the post-divorce transition a little easier. After their hearts healed, they dipped their toes in the dating pool and discovered that they connected on a whole different level. It turned out that everyone else did, too.
“It’s been such an easy transition for our kids and families,” Diane said. “We thank God and each other every day for the way things have turned out. It doesn’t seem real!”
Family time remains the focus of the annual excursions, and you can tell by the family portrait photos below that it’s even better now that the circle has grown. They hit AJ’s as soon as they get to town, followed by other local favorites Harbor Docks and Baytowne. Pompano Joe’s had just opened the year of their inaugural visit so that’s always on the list, as is Destin Ice to stock up on tuna dip and fresh catch for the house. But both Diane and Chris insist that the best times are spent on the beach – taking in gorgeous sunrises, soaking up sun while digging holes with the kids, and sipping wine with Diane’s parents while enjoying breathtaking sunsets.
Call or write us and let’s get your family portrait session scheduled. You’ll never regret capturing memories like these. We promise.
So when’s the big day, you ask? July 31st. In Hawaii. Sans kids. 😉
